Diagnostic · One habit, four topics

Quadratic

(x + 2)(x + 3) = 0

x = 2, x = 3

sign flipped wrong

Simult. eq.

2x + y = 5, 2x − y = 1

0 = 4

double negative dropped

Inequality

−2x > 6

x > −3

didn't flip the sign

Factorising

−(x − 3)

−x − 3

didn't distribute the sign

Track the negative sign, every step.
Four topics. One habit. That's what “more tuition” keeps missing.

The pattern

Does one of these sound like your child?

If any of them do, this is what the coaching is built to fix — and the diagnostic will find where it starts.

  • Understands it in class, but can't reproduce the working alone at home.

  • The same silly mistakes keep coming back, however many papers they do.

  • One topic — trigonometry, differentiation — quietly drags the whole grade down.

  • Stuck at a B or C for terms, despite the hours already going in.

How the coaching works

What happens once the diagnosis is done.

You've seen the pattern. This is the part you can't infer yet — how a habit, not a topic, actually gets fixed, week to week.

  1. 01The fix

The fix isn't more practice — it's rewiring the habit

Once the diagnostic isolates the habit — like the negative-sign slip above — each lesson is built to interrupt it until the correct step becomes automatic across every topic it touches. As each habit closes, the plan moves to the next: week 2 isn't week 8.

    • Individually plannedno shared worksheets, ever.
    • Adjusted every lessonupdated on what they missed last session and in school.
  2. 02Evidence

    Evidence it moves the grade

Not “a nice teacher” — the same patterns from the top of the page, closed. A few students, shared with permission.

Pattern 02 · the silly mistakes that kept coming back

    C6A1
The diagnostic found that my son's whole problem was one habit in his algebra working. Six weeks later the “careless” mistakes were just gone. It was never carelessness.
Mrs Lim · Parent of Sec 3 student

Pattern 04 · stuck at a B, term after term

    B4A2
She'd been stuck at a B for over a year. What changed wasn't more papers — it was finally understanding why she kept losing the same marks in trigonometry.
Mr Tan · Parent of Sec 4 student

Pattern 01 · got it in class, lost it alone

I actually understand what I'm doing now instead of copying a method. When a question looks different I can still start it.
    Rachel · Sec 4 student

Wee Han

About Wee Han

The person who'll be teaching your child.

I'm Wee Han, and I coach secondary, IP and JC math one-to-one. If your child understands things in class but freezes on their own, or keeps making the “same silly mistake,” that's usually not carelessness and never a sign they can't do math. More often it's a couple of specific misconceptions sitting underneath, quietly costing marks.

What I do is find where the reasoning actually breaks, work out why, and check the fix holds across the different ways an exam can ask the same thing. It's detailed work, and it's the part that tends to move a grade.

I only take on a handful of students at once, so the plan stays genuinely built around your child.
